Games Blog at Pair O’ Dice Games is One Year Old!
Today this blog turns one year old!
Time to look back at some of our favorite posts and then take a peek at what the future holds for Pair O’ Dice Games!
How This Site Came to Be
Time for some perspective. When I first got the idea for this site I had been running my own art blog and programming blog for a little while, and felt confident about starting a new blog.
Now it’s been a year since we started this collaboration, and I’m pretty proud of what we’ve produced together so far. Hope you enjoy it!
Yet I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it a success alone; gaming is a social activity and a blog about gaming benefits greatly from the ideas, creativity, and words of multiple individuals. Fortunately Josh was interested in the idea and agreed to come aboard, and before long he was writing much more than I.
Role Playing, Card Games, and Board Games
While we sometimes have different opinions, we both enjoy writing about games and that’s at the center of why we’re still here, continuing to produce new content for this blog.
Right now I’m going to take a minute to highlight five of my favorite posts from the last year (in no particular order):
- What Veronica Mars Taught Me About Role Playing, or How to Use TV Series as Chronicle Archetypes: Josh takes a look at the plot types of such TV series as X-Files and Heroes, then applies them to crafting role playing campaigns.
- Jyhad/Vampire: the Eternal Struggle Deckbuilding Tips – The Crypt: Jyhad really is a fantastic multiplayer card game to this day.
- Fat-Free Magic: the Gathering - Without Lands (Channeling Land Variant): Not only is this variant one I enjoy playing, but it generated a high amount of discussion.
- The Messiah List, Part 1: Betrayal: I love it whenever we can create something original and offer it here on the site, and the first part of Josh’s Shadowrun-styled short fiction is a great read.
- History of the World - Balance of Power Variant: More house rules for this cool board game.
What the Future Holds in Store for Pair O’ Dice Games
As long as writing for this site, and playing games, continues to be fun for us you can expect:
- More great articles on games we’ve played, games we’ve enjoyed, plus house rules and game variants to make games more fun to play
- Role playing statistics, stories, and ideas you can use in your own game
- The release of Pair O’ Dice original games, designed and created by us!
Thanks to everyone out there who’s been following along, and thanks to all of our commentors and contributors! Your input helps make this site an enjoyable tabletop gaming community!
